Central Bank of The Bahamas Introduce Education Series

The Central Bank of The Bahamas is pleased to introduce several forums for public education and engagement in the context of its 50th Anniversary; namely, Harbourside Chats with the Governor, the 50th Anniversary Learning Series and the 50th Anniversary Memorial Lecture. These forums aim to increase public knowledge and understanding of the role and functions of the Central Bank, the Bahamian financial sector and economy as a whole. Topics also cover changes in the global financial landscape with domestic implications. The format of these sessions is diverse to optimise participation and include pre-recorded and broadcasted interviews, in-person lectures and web-based learning events. The educaton series also feature discussions with, and presentations by, key stakeholders, partners, think tanks and standard setters, to ensure integrity and objectivity of the information offered.

The public is invited to take advantage of these learning opportunities throughout the year and get reacquainted with the Central Bank.

Harbourside Chats with the Governor – These are pre-recorded discussions between the Governor and key stakeholders in the financial sector, government and civil society, both domestically and abroad. These are designed to provide insights on how the Central Bank interacts with the financial sector, the wider economy and the global regulatory infrastructure. 50th Anniversary Learning Series – The Learning Series feature public lectures and presentations on matters related to the Central Bank’s roles and functions. Finacial literacy themes will also be examined, including savings and investing, financial inclusion, deposit insurance and more. Lectures may be attended in person or viewed via live streaming.

50th Anniversary Memorial Lecture – The Memorial Lecture will be held Wednesday, 12th June 2024 at 7:00 p.m., in honor of past Governors, T.B. Donaldson and Sir William Allen, under the theme “Inclusive and Resilient Growth”. There will be a keynote lecture by Dr. Tanya McCartney, followed by a panel discussion with key industry stakeholders representing the government, academia and tourism.
